While my greatest passion is travel, I also love interior design and home decoration. While I wouldn’t say I’m materialistic, I would say I’m very sentimental, so I love to buy souvenirs when I’m on the road. I’ve discussed this on this blog before – I hadn’t even been to Central or South America when I wrote that, but I could still anticipate lugging around a backpack full of trinkets and random purchases.
When I travel, I love to take note of the interiors around me, whether in restaurants, hotels, hostels, people’s homes, and even stores, museums, and places of worship. I was so impressed by the designs in Central and South America: the bright colours, the oversized art, the bold choices. I have never been a fan of simplistic or minimalist design (at least, not in my own homes), and so I really connected with the styles of the countries I visited in 2012. Then again, I also loved the styles of Southeast Asia and of the Subcontinent, of Northern Africa and of Europe…maybe I’m just easy to please.
Have you ever been blown away by the interior design of a country or continent?
